Katelyn Johnson- Guest Instructor
Katelyn Johnson is a recent graduate from James Madison University with a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion with a Interdisciplinary Religion Concentration. Katelyn’s passion is in learning while passing knowledge and experience on to others, specifically our children. Her goal is to continue broadening personal and communal fulfillment through the teaching and practice of physical and mental achievement in cheer, gymnastics, and dance.
Katelyn grew up in Northern Virginia with a strong gymnastics and cheerleading background. She is a former competitive gymnast for Apex Gymnastics (8 years), reaching Level 8. After her career as a competitive gymnast, Katelyn was employed with Apex Gymnastics for 6 years. During her employment at Apex she was a Parent/Child, GymKids, Recreational, and Tumbling Coach, Summer Camp Director, and assistant coach to Girls’ Level 4 Developmental Teams and Boys’ Level 4, 5, and 6 Compulsory Teams.
Katelyn is also a former Varsity cheerleader for Heritage High School during her Freshman and Sophomore years.
While at JMU, Katelyn was a member and treasurer of the Mozaic Hip Hop dance team and a former tumbling instructor for Spirit 365 in Harrisonburg, VA.
Kristen – Instructor
Kristen was born and raised in Northern Virginia and will turn eighteen at the end of this year. Kristen started cheering when she was nine years on a local competitive cheer team then cheered at Heritage High School as a freshman. She then switched to Tuscarora High School where she cheered through her senior year. Kristen has lettered as a Varsity Cheerleader all four years of high school. She also attended Woodward cheer camp for three years and was a junior councilor her fourth year. Cheering has been a major part of Kristen’s life and she hopes to continue the growth of the sport by teaching younger children cheer technique, stunts, and tumbling!
Christina – Instructor
Christina is native to Leesburg, VA where she attends Heritage High School as a freshman. She cheered for 7 years with CLYFL, Nova Elite and has taken extensive tumbling lessons at local gyms. Christina is caring and energetic and loves kid! She can’t wait to work with you.
Mackenzie- Instructor
Mackenzie is a 15 year old freshmen at Tuscarora High School where is she a Varsity Cheerleader. Not only does she participate in cheerleading, she is also a member of the Winter gymnastic team. Mackenzie started cheerleading at the age of five and it has become one of her all time favorite sports! Mackenzie enjoys her first year as a More Than Cheer instructor, and plans to pursue cheerleading at the college level.
Liron- Instructor
Liron is a native of Leesburg, Virginia. She is a freshman at Heritage High School. She has danced at Studio Bleu and cheered for the Heritage High School Cheerleading Team. When Liron was younger she participated in great programs similar to More Than Cheer to learn cheers and tumbling. She is excited to work with your kids and teach them all about cheerleading. She is always thinking of new cheers and activities that for the students!
Ronnie- Instructor
Ronnie was born in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and moved to Leesburg when she was two. Ronnie is 15 years old and is currently attending Heritage High School where she is an honors student. She was a junior varsity cheerleader during the fall season at Heritage and has danced competitively for 5 year. Ronnie loves working with children and is very excited to be part of the More Than Cheer team!
KC- Instructor
KC is a dancer, specializing in jazz, contemporary and ballet, who trains at the Loudoun School of Ballet. KC is a member of the pre-professional company Jazz&Co DANCE directed by Sharon Mercke. With Jazz&Co DANCE, KC competes (New York City Dance Alliance, West Coast Dance Explosion) and performs, including guest performances with Fusion Dance Company, directed by Candra Preshong. KC has choreographed a jazz solo competed at NCYDA, and a contemporary trio performed at Jazz&Co DANCE’s Spring Concert. KC is currently a teacher’s assistant and demonstrator in Jazz 3 (girls and boys ages 7-9) at the Loudoun School of Ballet. KC is so happy to be a part of the More Than Cheer Team because she loves working with young kids. KC hopes to inspire the kids and get them excited about cheer and dance.
